This is the same Cinnamon Teal I caught landing on the calm water (posted a few days ago).

Taken about 700am, before he took off and came back in to land again.

    D850
    600mm + 1.4x
    HH
    ISO 800
    1/2500
    f5.6

Normal C1P and PS stuff contrast, HL, mid tonal boost, mild crop. Cleaned up the rocks a bit.

Brian nice shot details and sharpness look great and HA is spot on.I sort of like the rocks little different too bad we can't see the whole foot. I wish we had these in Nd pretty rare occurrence here.Would have been better if you could have caught fifteen minutes earlier getting a little bright. I rarely stay out past seven as the light is getting hard up here.
Love the background colors sweet along with the calmness of the water. I would have still shot it would just be that much better in earlier light IMO TFS

Ah man, getting up an inch or two would have cleared the foot - but I say this as a low-angle fanatic judging an image as an armchair quarterback. Having said this, these small details will become things you will naturally look out for through the viewfinder. I love the wet look, details, colours. Beautiful duck!

Beautiful shot of a species I really want to get. Lovely water and I like the rocks. Light looks just fine to me. Yes, a few inches higher might have been nice but fine image as posted.

looking good, light was sweet and I like the BG. inching the 600 up would have cleared the view of the feet and taken this a nudge up. you are nailing the IQ on these, granted you have some of the best gear too!

Hi Brian, Im not sure how concealed you were, but we have all done it by just trying to get the best shot, and in doing so, our subjects bolt. Cool pose, lovely colours, and just love that red eye. Well captured.

Gorgeous looking duck. Like the low angle and the framing. The light looks quite nice as well.
