I captured this image of a juvenile Great Blue Heron with an impaled Florida Gar fish along Wading Bird Way trail at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Really like this Joe. The bird appeared to have some yellow tones in the gray but the white near the beak looks white so probably good.

    Is that a Gar?

Hi Brian, thank you for viewing and commenting. Yes, the fish is a Florida Gar. I went back to the image, I think you were maybe right regarding yellow/green in the grey plumage. The bird was standing on a grassy area so the reflected light would be green. I used the eyedropper in Lightroom white balance and set the gray to be the neutral. Here is a repost with that change.

Joe, ok so comparing them side-by-side I might split the difference if possible - the repost looks a little blue now. I didn't mean to screw anything up for ya.

Maybe we can let others chime in as well and see what they think.

Thanks for sharing on the gar.

Hi Joe, excellent catch for the theme, and I'm wondering how he did manage to get that from his beak. I feel the OP is fine with regards to a yellow cast. The yellows are areas of dirt from day to day living.

Nice view of this bird with the prey. I like the framing. Light looks quite nice.

What a cool scene you happened upon! I love that huge gar. Nice details on the heron. To me it looks like the yellows on the heron;s feathers look like natural staining of sorts.
