This is one of the adults that was watching the low-to-the-ground fledgling I posted a few days ago. The other adult was watching another four (!) way up in a pine. Although it rained rather hard later in the day, the sun peaked out of the clouds just at right time when I came across this beauty.

Hi Dan, looks good to me, wonderful capture. I have never seen one but one night up north I heard on... scared the bejeebees out of me. Thank you for sharing.

Maybe the best Screech Owl image I have ever seen.

    Fantastic capture Daniel!

The lichen on the tree and the orange hue to the branch invoke some nice elements.

Might be worth smoothing those diagonal lines at top left to let those creamy earth tones do their thing.

    Appreciate you sharing this.

    Daniel:

I though most owls were nocturnal? Rare to see a screech owl in such good light. Like the framing with the trunk and branch, complimentary colours in the background and trunk. Sharp.

There is a fine vertical white line between the bird and the trunk which could be cleaned up. At the very top of the trunk, against the green background, perhaps a bit of sharpening halo? Could of course just be normal variation in the background.

I hear the screech owls locally, never have captured one as nicely as this. Congrats.

Wonderful Screech Owl shot, with great full-frame comp. Nice BG, and lichen on the tree. Well seen and captured.

Hi Dan, nicely framed in the fork of the tree, and I like the intense stare. Looks like a bit of dried blood on the beak from his last meal. I do like the colour of the BG.

Looks great all around. I like the framing and the perch. The lichen on the tree is nice as well.

Super sweet. I only wish that the bird had both ears up instead of one.
