I like the framing and the pose. The ruffled up feathers are another bonus. Detail looks quite nice.

Like the simplicity here Jon and as John mentioned the ruffled neck. Might be tired eyes, but does it need a little more selective sharpening on the head? Some nice shrubs along your walk.

Hi Jon, nice image. As others have mentioned the ruffled feathers are nice, I also like the singing pose. Thank you for sharing.

Steve your eyes aren't tired - quite the opposite, I did in fact reduce sharpening on the bird, I was keen for the white plumage not to look too hot or over sharpened so I reduced the sharpening on this image. The shrub is an apple tree, there are several by the reed bed no doubt growing from discarded apple cores in years gone bye.

Not sure the sharpening would affect the whites in plumage Jon, I would try upping it, just to see. Great to know the cores have had a beneficial aspect to the location and provide a nice natural perch too.

I like the pose and the ruffled neck feathers.
Great look of the eye. Very nice perch and I like the apple blossom neatly fitting into the bottom of the frame.
The angle is a bit steep and I wish for some clouds in the solid blue sky,

I agree Gail the angle is steep but this is one of the characteristics of this bird, they tend to go for the highest point they can find in order to proclaim their territory, it is fairly infrequent that they sing with such vigour from a lower perch.
