Cool shot, the sparrow in flight looks sharp, I think you could sharpen the robin a bit more.
Nice setting.

Super interesting shot Jonathan. The birds must have been just off the same plane, was there any aggression involved or just both going to the watering hole?
I am curious if this was underexposed at all or perhaps reduced curves on the whole images? It just feels a little dark for me, but it could just be my screen (not calibrated).

Hi Jon, nice image and the sparrow is pretty cool!!!!

The whole image just needs opening up. Jon did you use Vibrance? I might go a tad cooler on the Temp only, you'll know where I'm going. Is this the start of the 'infinity pool'?

Very cool. The framing is right on. Really like the water element as well.

Very cool. Now, your going for two... I love the composition and mostly the story telling of this canvas. TFS

Nice timing on the sparrow, but the robin feels a bit of an afterthought since he's not doing much or acknowledging the incoming bird. The lack of direct light hurts since that orange chest doesn't glow. These hide/pond-type shots are tough for me since they're so obviously set-ups. They really need to be perfect to overcome that circumstance (your recent woodpeckers did just that).

Thanks to all for your time and comments, I post images to gauge reaction rather than to necessarily seek compliments, I knowingly post images that I feel could be better for a variety of reasons, I like to gauge what other people think.
Brian there was a minimal amount of aggression - I have others more where it is a little more overtly shown.
Steve, yes I did use vibrance and yes I agree a little underexposed.
Dorian your critique is concise and incisive and accurate - and welcome, I do have better images to perhaps mitigate the contrived circumstance .. more to come! As a result of feed back I may revise the processing in some subsequent images before I post them!

Indeed you did.
You might find here either prior or at the end using Colour balance in ALL 3 sectors, but from memory it's just a few 'points' ie +4 Blue -1 on the Cyan, but haven't got it to hand as we have just driven back up. Call me if you need too, if I can help?
