If I had to imagine the perfect image, with typical environment for this species... Well, you did better... Sorry for hyperbole, but I mean it. TFS
ps
The beak shadow is killer IMHO.

Really like the sense of environment here. The vertical framing is right on. Nice pose and perch as well.

Jon, wonderful bird shot in its environment.
I am certainly not the expert's expert, however that dark reed behind just feels so close to the bird that it detracts a little for me. If it was just a few mm to the left it would frame beautifully. Would also love to see more of the tail bands in a perfect world.
Very nice capture overall though.

Jonathan: I guess some may feel that the BG has too many distractions (taken many shots myself with distracting BG)...however, in this instance it works well for me...the bird in its natural surroundings. I'm on the fence with the tail tip poking out to the right of the oof section...one minute I like it...the next I want to clone it out. Would have been nice to get all of the lower foot in view, but I'm being picky. Overall the composition works well for me and I love the pose and sharpness. Cheers.

I actually really like the setting here. Yeah, it's a bit busier than ideal, but it shows the habitat perfectly! The pose is so engaging that our eye goes directly to the bird's face. Very nice!
