    Default Tug of War

Normally the garden is fairly quiet, with just the usual suspects appearing, as the resident Sparrow hawk tends to keep bird life fairly limited.

Having come back home just before lunch after finding another new site I was greeted to a huge flock of Starlings, stripping the fat cake left for the Blue tits/Blackbirds. With over 18 birds, four adults 14 juveniles they were systematically eating the fat cake, the noise was deafening, the action pure chaos and the old Apple tree was alive with heaving bodies, every bird demanding to be fed! Where to focus, pure luck as the action was on a constant moving basis, light was of a premium and the MK3 battery was on charge so had to swop to the 5D4. The adult is sharp, the juvenile just a fraction out, but not bad for the 5D4 at ISO6400.

Thanks to those who viewed or commented on the previous posting.

Thanks guys, just a bit of fun and David, this highlights what I mean about Contrast. At 6400 ISO isn't a problem in terms of PP and the images are cleaner, especially with LR. Very overcast Jon, not great light.

I like this light and detail. Interesting that the one facing away looks slightly sharper than the other juvenile.
Must be something about a bend in the branch.

A great environmental action shot Steve. Exposure looks spot on to me, and I like the framing. Nice that you have so much "bird action" in your garden. TFS

Only once in a fews months Paul, I think we have more in London, but great to toggle between the two locations. However I'm very spoilt up here as there is a lot on the doorstep.

Colin, remember focusing is a 1/3 in front, 2/3 behind, so the FP is bang on the adults head, the bird behind is sloping towards the adult.

Hi Steve. So...your location shows "somewhere in the world". Where are you living at the moment? (I'm originally from London...moved to Brisbane in 1969).

    "somewhere in the world".
Hi Paul, our 'main' residence ( ) is in London about 3 miles from the centre, one from Lords Cricket ground, but have a bolt hole in N Yorkshire.

Both of us got off the corporate 'hamster wheel' in 2005 so we do/did a lot of travelling and currently we should have been in the Galapagos now for 16 days!!!

Thanks Steve. Sounds like you've been enjoying life, except for the pandemic. Take care.

A neat moment for sure. The tug-o-war is great. Image quality is very nice.

Hey Steve .... a very cool moment and action captured .
Image looks great in terms of color / tone and contrast and you are able to deal with the 5D shortcomings in the slightly higher ISO department .
    Comp spot on !!!
In a really nice world ... the younger one in the back would have not been there .... and from the technical POV , I think the FP should have been on the young ones head . Must be down to the heat of the moment ...

Nice one and good to see some more birds in the frame .

    TFS Andreas
