Taken out of the window of my vehicle crossing a lake dam. 95% of the time these GBh's bolt as soon as you let your foot off the gas pedal here in the Midwest. This one was kind enough to let me observe it while it hunted.
This is the best of the series as far as the fish goes. I had set the exposure for the whites on the heron. The wet fish was highly reflective and in many of images the whites on the fish were blown.

Perfect for theme. Wonderful details and eyes on both. The deep blue BG makes it all pop. TFS

Dang, I wasn't paying attention to the themes. I should have waited a day.

Fish steals the show! Love the lighting, color, and detail. I'd only want a tad more head turn towards us, but I'd be stoked with this image. Bird looks a bit grayed
on the throat, but I imagine you were concerned with setting exposure an maximizing detail on the the gleaming fish (which looks great).

Love how it has the fish by the tail. Solid background. Framing is right on.

Oooh, I like this! Great close up of the heron and its' catch. I love how the fish is being held by the tail and dangling downwards. Nice blue BG too. Well done!
