I love the choice of framing and the wet look. Good job on sharpening IMHO. It ain't easy when the bird is sopping wet. BG perfect for this artistic structural canvas. TFS

Love the forming drop at bottom of pouch.

This is something Colin. Very unique portrait, nicely done.

    Very unique portrait,
Agree, but the critical sharpness to me, appears to be on the back of the head, not on the eye.

I like what you were going for here. If you have it, I'd add back a bit more top and bottom, while retaining the gist of the OP, to give more room above as it is tight up there. I also wish the pelican had looked your way just a bit more. The eyeball itself looks sharp, but the general orbital area seems softer, especially compared to the back of the head as per Steve. Here is a good situation to stop down much more than one would normally do. Still a pretty neat frame, with lots to study and enjoy.

Colin, quick question, where was the FP? The reason I ask is that I have noticed on some MK3 images the camera is front focusing ever so slightly. This may not be the case here, but something just to note.

Such neat looking pelicans here. It's something different for sure. The eye is pretty awesome.

Steve, I always check that when I get new lenses. No problem for the straight 600 but considerably front focused with either the 1.4 or 2x. Both required +7 adjustment.
    Now spot on,

Thanks for commenting. I also thought that the eye area looked soft before I posted but with the eye itself sharp and the creases in the yellow area sharp I put it down to the yellow area having mostly no texture.
