Wonderful soft light on this beauty showing the many hues nicely. Love the horizon in that eye and the use of wide open aperture with with focus right on the face. Also love the way the perch just melts away, the composition and the canvas overall. TFS

I like the composition and the perch we don't get to see swallows on perches such as this very often.

I'm very much liking this one John, the framing and minimal backdrop works. If you look to getting a better WB it will remove the green cast and the Darks/Shadows are masking the finer detail you have there in the capture. OK, if you haven't the battery grip the 1/320 OK, but with that background I may have gone to 6400 to gain a bit more SS, however it does look sharp, so well done. Your call but loosing a few branches I feel helps.

    Well done.

Although I see the Tree Swallows perching one in a while, it's not often I see the Barn Swallows do it! Good high-key presentation of a very relaxed-looking individual. I prefer the colour in Steve's version, but I also prefer the branches left on in the OP. I guess it's pretty subjective :-)

Hi John, nice image of a bird I only have seen flying and swooping for bugs. Steve's edit removed the green cast and revealed more detail. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice view of this usually more-kinetic flier. Really like the body and head angle, both are very engaging. Steve's repost does improve the color, and I think it's a bit sharper as well. The more streamlined perch also works well.
All can be easily incorporated into to your own processing to yield a very nice result.
