    Default Wedge - Tailed Eagle

i took this rather bedragled youngster about 18 months ago on a dull day.I countnt get enough life out of it so I took some recent advice from this site and processed it in Capture1 .I'm hoping it improves the noise problem I've been getting.I love those eyes.

Ian, overall a nice image. Love Eagles but have never seen one of these - has similarities to a Golden it appears.

You mention noise, is that the main issue you were having with the photo? There is still some on the bkg in the greens/browns but I didn't notice it at first because of the gaze of the subject. If you want to get a little more out, several have been using Topaz Denoise effectively, including myself.

As far as the bird itself, looks pretty sharp to me. The shadows are perhaps a little dark. **EDIT: crop looks ok in full screen view

Love the pose and the high contrast view of this beauty (part of the reason the shadows are blocked). Love the face and those fiery trailing plumes with same touches on the wings. Yes, the shadows could be lifted but I like the drama of this presentation. BG noise should be easy fix. TFS

Intense photo, Nice pose, the darks on the eagle look oK to me, but the image is noisy for a D5.
Was this exposed correctly? At iso1250, Capture one conversion should have been really clean.
    Arash may help.

Looks good here Ian...I like the pose and the contrasty colours. From what I can see there is minimal noise and looks ok here. I would try lifting the shadows on the chest area to see if you can get more detail. Was the image under exposed.

The downstroke pose is right on. I don't mind the trees in the background. Framing looks good.

I really like the image, I suspect the capture was underexposed, a selection of the bird and Levels adjustment of gamma really helps as does curves adjustment, I suspect going back to the raw would really be worthwhile. Also consider reducing blues in the bird.
