Hello, while I wait for my new lens to arrive I thought I would share a Wood Duck photo from the past. By far my favorite waterfowl.
    f/7.1, iso 320, 500mm + 1.4 TC, 1/1000s, 7D.

Whoa, that is beautiful. Only minor nit, the water is also incredible and would like more room all around. TFS

Gary nice woody and great detail, sharpness. I wish you had some more around the frame as it is tight. I have some like that too when they get too close. TFS

Beautiful. Yes a bit tight and the lower catchlight could be removed.
Really good details and exposure, particularly of the white patch on the bill.

Beautiful colours and details, a little large in the frame but an easy fix.

Yes, definitely needs a looser composition. Beautiful duck in perfect light. Bummer about the stuff in the water at left, should be a relatively easy fix. Which lens did you get?

The colors on the duck are great. Lovely light as well. Agree about some more room.

Thank you all appreciate your comments and agree more room is needed. Daniel I picked up a Sony 200-600 mm which arrived yesterday. Still looking at which crop body to get.

    Thanks again, Gary.

    Gary:

Just back to civilization. A real beauty of a bird for sure. Shows the full palette of colors nicely.

Agree about a bit more room if possible, and just for me, I find the sharpening perhaps just a bit much. I love all the detail however.

    Cheers
