This is another tubenose species I got to photograph on my pelagic trip about 100 miles south of Cape Cod last weekend. These birds can drink salt water and excrete excess salt through a gland on top of the upper mandible. Because of that they can stay on the open ocean for a long time without dehydration

Axel, I've enjoyed this series...as were the others, this is a beauty. So sharp, remarkable given the conditions. I like the hint of reflection on the bottom.
Axel,
What can I add that already hasn't been said? This is an excellent image with excellent detail.
I love the wing position and the top view is spectacular. Wonderful colors too. And that hint of reflection on the bottom just sends this one over the top for me.. Great job.
great veiw of a cool bird Axel., I would prefer a mor vertical crop with more room in front of the bird, and wish for less wind!, well done from a boat!
Axel
I love it when you can get that view. I loved the pelagic trip I took last year and hope to do another at the end of the month. I sure hope I get as many great images as you have. Well done.
Axel...you've outdone yourself with this one, considering you were on a moving boat....nothing I can see wrong at all...amazing...Thank You For sharing...Paul
