Randy's twisted duck inspired me to post this one from a few days ago. The bird did even more twists and turns but couldn't get a good eye in a lot of them.

    Colin:

Perhaps we will have to do a theme some month: Scratching/preening!

Bright light but the sun angle worked well for you, lovely detail, nice scratching pose(!), blue background. Good POV.

    Cheers

Bright light but I love the symmetrical wing position and the twisted preening pose.

Hi Colin ... you are making progress in your editing skills , which is great to see .
Love the wing stretch and the symmetry in the shot .
Colors are looking quite good to me with a nice depth .

For me the image is a bit tight ... the blacks and the 3/4 tones a bit heavy and masking potential details .
I would also reduce the sharpening a tiny bit .... depending on your output sharpening method I would lower the white fringe of the sharpening as it does create the more obvious halos and makes things look more on the crunchy or oversharpend side . The MK III does not need that much sharpening ..... as the MK II !!!!!!!!!

Hi Colin, to me, if you had removed the 1.4 you would have had a better frame to compose. Overall it's too tight and he subject needs a bit more space to breathe. Colours and detail looks good and you are constantly moving in the right direction which is also nice to see in PP.

Andreas is correct, there is more hidden in the capture, but that's partly down to LR and how it likes to add stuff behind the scenes. It's the same if you add any sharpening, everyone thinks they are adding say 40, or 10, or 70... sadly not, depending on the camera LR will be adding or subtracting accordingly, again, behind the scenes!!!

Great pose here. Really like the "S" the neck makes. Light is nice as well.
