Each year about this time we share some of the peaches in our orchard with some of our feathered friends. The image shown depicts the art of peach thievery, as practiced on the last peach in the orchard last season, by a red-bellied woodpecker. Using its entire body to make quick work of the peach, this bird eventually severed what was left of the peach and flew away with it. This year our friend is back with his mate.

Nice capture of this behavior. I would like to see a bit more eye contact, would add more room right and bottom and it seems you sharpened not only the bird, which caused a lot of noise in the background. Thanks for sharing!

    Axel:

As always, your comments are greatly appreciated. I've modified the image by providing more space at the bottom and the right, and I've backed off on sharpening to the point where there is no change in background noise, compared to the unsharpened image. I hope the re-post is more to your liking.

The composition looks much better this way. I would still apply noise reduction on the BG.

I always apply Noise Ninja where necessary before making good prints. But I hope that you and the other viewers will be able to enjoy the interesting behavior shown by the woodpecker in this JPEG image, despite the bit of background noise.
