I took this today, I take a lot of Osprey photos, I have never seen a beak carry in flight.
It was a small fish, but I see them carry that size with 1 foot all the time so this was fun
to watch. I have wings down and up, I like Osprey wings down,
I don't get as often.
This is a female, notice she has a normal eye.
D500, 500mm (300 f2.8 w/1.7) f4.8, 1/2000, iso1250
PP in C1P and PS.
It looks like the fish is half eaten. Maybe she got an emergency call from hubby telling her to come home to the nest, and just took of with the fish in her beak?
I like the down stroke pose as well, those powerful feet, the upward gaze, some variation in the bg.
If I had the canvas, I might position her just a bit higher in the frame.
Randy,
Thanks, I thought about adding canvas, this one at bottom of frame.
I had others I probably should have posted.
Yes the head is gone, the fish was delivered by the Male, they always take
the head off fast.
The male catches and delivers and the Female takes the fish and leaves
to eat it, I have never seen her or any Osprey flying with the fish in the beak.
She flew like that across the river to eat the rest.
Love the IQ, the wing position and the fish in the beak.
As you say, it is unusual to see that.
I would add about 5% more canvas below and left hand side.
Gail
Yes, a bit more at the bottom would be awesome. I love the fish in the bill, I have not seen this before either. I'm sure it happens more than we think, but to be there to see it is a different story! That spot is yielding you beautiful BGs!
