The Sunbird picked out this bug from the flower and turned the other side when I clicked this.

    Sanjeev:

Sharp, bug well displayed, good eye contact. Like the angled perch, flower.

Wish the tail wasn't blocked by his pose.

    Cheers

Hi Sanjeev, Randy is far better equipped than I am on Avian and what does & doesn't work, but personally I feel the finer detail is lacking, especially based on the techs. Was the AF on the eye, was this a large crop?

Steve the issue was it was underexposed by a stop but I tried to recover the shadows. Its a tiny bird and I got close to it luckily with some field craft.

    Not a problem with the 1DX MK2.

Nice how you caught the bug as well. A very neat looking bird. Like the framing and the perch.

Almost looks like a macro with the view of the flower head. Sharp where it needs to be and I love the eye and the prey. Only nit is lack of detail in the shadows but I love the close view of this beauty. TFS

Sanjeev, I have photographed these birds in India and you should have another go at them.
They are much more beautiful than this shot shows.

They are Colin, agreed. But I have not seen anyone post a sunbird with a mosquito in its beak! Have you seen one with a bug? So for me this is good. Appreciate the feedback. I will continue to get better ones.

I agree the blacks could be better. Beautiful perch, and I love how the bug is held on to by the wings. I do feel that pointing your lens right a bit more would have given you a better composition, but the uniform BG should make it easy to tweak should you choose to (crop a bit behind and add in front). What type of plant is this?
