    This looks good Dan.
I like the fluffed up feathers and the hint of blue sky.
    Nice and sharp.
Whites are hot on the thigh- did you try any recovery there?
I also like the clear view of the talons curled up on the perch. Perch is what it is- a bit stark.

Really like this Dan.So it is your slightly less favoured set up ie . the 500pf plus 1.4 at the 'equiv.' of 1050mm. Have you got a bit more blue on the left perhaps? That would perhaps frame this bird as well.

Thanks Ian, I wish I had more blue, but this is early morning, just not much color.
Funny, I never think in terms of 1050mm. 700mm for me is almost too much, I cut wings.
The 500pf with the extender is like shooting with older camera AF. Hit and miss, a challenge but
when you can get focus, I like the results.
Gail, I think that patch is gone, not much there. The Osprey white head is also really hard
    to get detail in.
This was in soft light and I still could not get it right....

    Dan:

Like the shaking pose, nice angle in the frame, grip, and oddly enough the top of the perch with the two symmetrical twigs.

    Were you using the TC14III?

    Cheers

    Randy:
    Thanks for the comments.
    Yes the TC14III.
It is hit and miss for flight for me. Kind of fun since I get to shoot
a lot and can goof off with it when I have good light.
It is fine on the 500pf for perched shots.
Maybe people like Arash can get consistent flight shots with it, I can't.
It will grab and lose focus, like the old AF systems.
When you get nice F8 flight shots with a distant BG, they can be very good I think.
The TC14III and the old TC17 work terrific on my 300 f2.8.
Almost the same as shooting without them.

    Dan:

Thanks for your input on the PF and TC14III. I hope to go looning soon, and will try it (later in the day!)

    Cheers

I like the ruffled feathers, details, IQ and great view of the talons. Interesting eye on this Osprey too. Very well done Dan.

The ruffed up feathers makes this one. Nice framing.
