    I captured this image of a Cattle Egret on a overcast day while driving along Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive in Apopka, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D500
    Nikon 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF-S ED HH using the vehicle as a blind
    1/640 F5.6 Matrix Metering EV 0 ISO 220 Auto 1 WB, image captured at 400mm
    Post processed in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop CC 2020 and Neat Image for noise reduction
    Cropped for composition and presentation

    Love it! Great view of the feet on that perch, and a good perch at that! Some variation on the BG to add some interest. A breeding plumage individual would have been too good! I hope you took some in-camera verticals too.

    Hi Dan, thanks for viewing and commenting. I do have verticals here is one, but I liked the composition of the landscape with the negative space. Just me. Thanks again

    Nice image Joe. I like the exposure, HA, details and composition in the OP works for me.

    Joe, I think it's pretty awesome what you do with the 80-400mm. This is a great example.

    May I ask what the estimated range was on this shot?

    Hi Brian, I checked, the distance to the subject was 14.96m or 49 feet. The focus point was on the front of the face and bill.

    Super! Ultimately there's no replacement for filling the frame.

    PS - what do you use to view where the focus point was?

    Hi Brian, filling the frame puts more pixels on the bird. How much a image can be cropped depends on image quality.
