I was fortunate to spend a few days in the Pafuri region of the Kruger National Park this past week. There are plenty of elephant and buffalo around, and the buffalo always have a few oxpeckers in attendance. I liked the way in which this little guy was perched between the horns of the buffalo, almost as if he is in charge of the massive beast :)

Thanks for sharing this, it's always great to see birds I'm not familiar with. Great light, details and 'perch'. :) I only wish for a bit more head turn toward you.

Hi Chris, Pafuri is a beautiful region with plenty of good birds hiding in the trees, it is a pity that we cannot get to a lot of it now that the private concessions are moving in. This is one picture I have always wanted to capture but no luck yet, I'll just have to keep on trying.

Thanks for the comments guys. Indeed Ken, Pafuri is rather inaccessible, and it takes a long time to get there from Punda Maria, and then the light is gone by the time you get there..
