Okay, if you followed the Gray Ghost v RTH yesterday you saw one challenge, which was using the 1.4 TC as it didn't perform.

Well, earlier in the shoot I had removed the TC in time for this Male Northern Harrier to fly by. Enter challenge #2, which was I forgot to adjust ISO down after I was shooting the female against a bright sky.

Wondering if I was able to salvage it? Too soft due to crop?

Good pose and lighting Brian. Moderately sharp enough as far as I can tell on a small screen.
Could do with some NR on the background.

Good looking flight pose, nice light and angle. Agree on a round of NR on the BG.

Great bird and nice BG but the IQ on the harrier has suffered. I can see it especially on the head where details are coarse with no fine detail.
The BG does need some NR and I would blend the whitish circles a bit,

The eye itself looks nice and sharp but yeah, the rest of the bird, although not terrible, has taken a hit from the large crop. All the more reason to go back eh! Sweet bird though, I've had zero opportunities with the male of the species despite them breeding up here too.

P.S. I like your playful avatar

Nice pose and framing. Looks sharp on the eye to me.

Hi Brian, you found some challenging subject already and got a good pose with the right HA. As Gail noted the IQ could be better

copping the D850 files heavily at ISO 3200 is a bit of a stretch. for small pixel cameras such as the D850 you want the cropped frame to be at least 50% of the original if you are shooting at ISO 3200 in low light. the other requirement is that the image be tack sharp.

I am sure you will get better and better shots with time
