This odd fellow seems to prefer the thorny Acacia trees in Botswana. Perhaps giving new meaning to the phrase " Stuck the Landing"? From 2018 near Kwetsani Camp in the Okavango Delta.

Now those are some thorns. The framing is right on. I like the look back pose and the detail.

Grey Lourie, or Go-away bird, as you say Bill, they seem to pick their landings very well. I wonder if it was just slightly under exposed judging by the fringing Bill? Being so stark, it does have an almost 'graphic' treatment/style especially with the Acacia thorns.

Kwetsani, know it very well, a really good location for birders for sure and if you are really lucky, you might even get to see the rare Rosy-throated Longclaw. some of the best Leopard images I've ever got was there with a star called Beauty.

Hope you had a good time Bill.

    Now those are some thorns.

Wonderful details Bill. I like the thorny perch and the natural looking colours.

I don;t recall seeing this bird before! Good high-key treatment, sharp. The angle to the subject is a bit steep, but in a way this gave you better spacing of the branches at left.

Hi Bill you did really well with this image and this species ... they are not easy to catch IMHO . Maybe different if one is a birder ....

Lovely detail in the subject and the tone and color in the subject is spot on for me !!!

    Nice one and TFS Andreas

Nicely captured, Bill. I like the head turn and the high key quality. Excellent feather detail throughout. Great Acacia perch.
