Wow Colin, the details and EXP are spot on... If you lightly sharpened, then you might want to back off any sharpening at all. The light's just a tad bright but you handled it well. I'd add back the bottom and wish you had a little more on the left. Love it and congrats! TFS

MY God Colin, what have you done, this is the best I think you have ever posted. Colour and detail looks good, perhaps a bit too sharp, but what an improvement!!!!!

Hi Colin looks as being your best ... so far .
Wonder what is ; from your POV , slight crop from bottom ....
And more important what is light sharpen for you ... as it does look a bit too strong , on my screen

    Thanks for the comments.
Andreas, it was an approximately 17% crop (i.e. 83% of the original retained).
In retrospect yes, less sharpening but a large amount of fine detail present in the original was lost in reducing the image to 1400 px long side for posting.
I was trying to restore that a little.

If this was shot in ‘portrait’ Colin then detail shouldn’t be lost. Or, is this cropped from a landscape format? If it was you still should retain detail, but it’s never ideal.

Very nice indeed Colin, my only reservation is the highlights, we tend to go all out to capture them, the next stage is being able to appreciate and interpret them.

Looks good here Colin. The sharpening does look a wee bit too much, but still looks good. I like the blues in the BG which show the bird well. Lovely colours on the bill.
