    Default Bunche comes close...

Another from a short burst when Bunche got close enough for a portrait last may. Just practicing new sharpening techniques using Dxo photolabs raw sharpening up front and presentation sharpening at end. Bunche had just shaken off from soaking wet and pulled in all those head and neck "hair" feathers for a clean slicked back look.

As always comments, critiques and discussions welcome. Also, Ari, thanks for the color balance article on my last post. An informative read. I left this as it was out of camera as the AWB seems to work fine in good morning sun light. This is more practice on better sharpening techniques.

I like the shot, they seem to be such white birds and with rather stringy looking feathers.

Hi David ... nice clean shot .
But will try to keep it simple with my reply . For me the sharpness and fine detail is actually not that great .... as always difficult to say without seeing the RAW . Even more as you are playing around with new software ....

Fire me the RAW and I will post a comparison with DPP and my output sharpening script , that you have seen

A nice portrait of this white morph for sure. Like the light and that background. This would have made a nice vertical.

Exposure and detail on the bird look pretty good, but you have two related issues here. The first is the lack of eye contact. It's hard to get it when they're focused on food, I know. Second, the empty right side of the frame feels an
afterthought. I think a tighter 8x10 view will put more focus on the bird and help minimize the eye contact issue.
