This Woody drake was posing for my friend Roy and I yesterday. Unusual to be this still at that location, so happy to capture his nice reflection.

Z6. 500 f/4 at f/7.1. ISO 2000 1/1000s. Sitting in sled blind to get low to water level

Post: Cleaned up a few spots in the water. NR on background. Patch tool on some spots in the water.

    Advice and comments appreciated.

    Cheers

Reflection is great, and I understand the non-traditional crop to keep it in this circumstance. I am curious how and 8x10 would look to lose that rock on the left. Also, the frame feels cold and the color is really lacking compared to
the frame you posted the other day. Light doesn't look steep, so I'm not sure why this frame lacks the punch of the other. Dark BG band through subject is tough.

Love the water and reflection in front of the subject. Love those light reflections off the water on this beauty as well. TFS

    Dorian:

Appreciate your comments. Color temp. was accurate as posted, but I get your point. This was shot pretty deep into the woods so cool. The last shot was fall with lots of brilliant colors.

Here is a repost warmed up a bit.

    Thanks David also.

    Jon:

Thanks for your input. There is def. a loss of sharpness on the head compared to the file on my screen before uploaded. I don't normally see that, so not sure the cause. I went back and boosted the sharpness further, and reposted it above, but now it is getting a bit crunchy. Unclear what is happening on this particular file.

    Cheers

Hi Randy ... love the mirroring !!
Composition works fine , just wish the LHS was more even .... but hey it is what Mother Nature gave you . And I would not try to remove that !!!!
I am undecided if the warming helped the image , I rather prefer the cooler version . But would tone down the blues in both version in the habitat . Perhaps toning down the whites , as the red channel is clipped in the HL .

Nice, like the re-post better. Really nice reflection, you can even see some fine feather detail in it.

Thanks for your input. My color meter reads the brightest whites on the neck at ~240, most less. So I am happy with them.

Repost is nice, your Z files just do not look as good as your DSLR files to me.
I am not ready to rush out and get one.

I like the reflection and the color of the water and the background. Nice pose on the bird as well.

Hi Randy, much prefer the OP colour look more natural, but may have double processed the file to offer more control between subject & environment. Not keen on the 'electric' blue along the shoreline, is it from a refection of something?

Hi Randy ... regardless of the given color reading , I just saw an option for a bit more detail in those bright parts of the plumage . Just a thought ... not saying it is blown
