    Default Osprey On Nest

    Attached Images Attached Images

Every year the pair rebuild this nest. The nest is on a platform on top of a utility pole on a urban street. Winds from our summer thunder storms, tropical storms and hurricanes blow the nest off. Fortunately this happens after the young birds have grown and taken flight. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Pretty much perfect, no surprise there. Love the nest as base, the EXP, the details and of course that stare. TFS

Kudos to your subject for choosing Spanish moss as nest liner. Love Spanish moss wherever it's found.

Hi Joe, looking good, but why do you use NR on ISO 560?????

    Joe:

Great point of view. You must be shooting from nearly eye level to get this perspective. Nice detail and exposure, with great eye contact.

I agree with Steve about the noise reduction. D500 so be pretty clean at this ISO unless really underexposed.

    Cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for viewing and commenting. Noise Reduction/Neat Image... I use it of every image. I lower the blacks, zero out the default sharpening of 40 in Lightroom and use the default setting in Neat Image of 60%. If the background is clean/pure the software can find a area without detail and read only the noise. Most times the amount that it finds is very low, around 2 or lower. Then on the 16 bit TIFF I tweak the exposure and sharpen. It seems to give a cleaner image without losing anything.

Hi Randy, thanks for viewing and commenting. See my comments to Steve regarding noise reduction. I was at eye level with the nest. The nest is on a platform on top of a utility pole. Across the street is a five level parking garage, top floor gives a great view of the nest. The limiting condition is the location of the nest relative to the light angle, overcast day with a wind from the south is best. The nest is directly north from the parking garage.

Hey Artie, thanks for viewing and commenting. Early February this year. I was planning to go back for chicks and fledlings but then this stuff got in the way. About now there should be chicks.
