Love the light and shadow in this one. I am one who prefers subject going about their business (here looking for prey) than looking at me. You might ever so lightly brighten the eye and increase contrast on same. I have experienced the same thing on the saturation and in my case found it to be my perception based on surrounding background. That is the background your canvas sits on. TFS

Hi Jon. A fine flight shot of the barn owl. Good colors and exposure. I like his gaze fixed down on something.

Jon:
One of my favorite birds. Going about his business, framing gives him room to gaze into, works well with this pose. Ideally perhaps the light angle a bit more behind you, but the shadows do add a bit more depth to the image.
Cheers

I like it a lot as the is an almost impossible subject on this side of the pond. I'd like it better cropped to 3X2 and even better with the sun behind you. But still envious.

Hi Jon .. glad you got out early and found his guy flying by .
All works for me and I do have no golden glow on my screen ...I am with Artie regarding the standard ratio 3x2 .
I am 50/50 about the eye , at least I would give it a try and lighten it with a gentle hand .

Ditto all above especially 3 x 2. I always prefer straight down the barrel eye contact but this one could work if the eye was brighter more visible. given BG is plain I'd crop tighter too
the colors look dead on for a barn owl to my eye.

Love the image, the intense look of concentration. I might try to do a little dodging on the face.

Quite nice. Like the pose and the light. Framing is right on. Love the alert look.

Thanks for your comments every one, I had a real blast yesterday morning, the lighting proved rather challenging being early the bird was in bright light then shadow against bright background and against light background. I will go back again and also try just using the prime lens, i.e. without the converter.
I did lift the eye slightly - any more as mentioned and I think it would look false, I did adjust light and dark plumage, again lifting the shadows more gave a slightly false representation.
