    Default Osprey in lockdown

A newly nesting pair a few mile bike ride away on the Columbia river.
They are nest sitting, so not very active.
I go when they are active in the early morning. This is light I have with morning clouds.
Better than being indoors and safe as can be...
BG is Columbia river and far bank.
    D500, 420mm (300 w/ 1.4), f4, 1/2000, iso6400
SS should be faster but I was really pushing the light.

Love the pose (takeoff?) and only wish this beauty was completely above the horizontal dark line. Love the BG with water and land. TFS

Dan, wonderful shot. I don't have much to add, but I would image you had a fair amount of noise @ ISO 6400 and 1/2000 with the soft light and the D500? You were able to take it all out in C1P, getting to this final version?

Thanks, Brian, here is C1P RAW file conversion.
I did not have to do much noise reduction as you can see.
C1P just does a way better job on high iso files than LR does.
I have to shoot a lot in light like this so I know how much
    better this program is.
This is shot at 2/3 stop over. That is what I shoot in iso6400 light. Seems about right
so get the best results I can.

Much appreciated. So to clarify, with the D500 you shoot at ISO 6400 in lighting as shown, with an f4 aperture setting (I am assuming your lens is an f4 and with the TC you're at 5.6 relative) and still be at 1/2000 as shown?

    Brian,
    Yes, this is a D500 with my 300 f2.8 and a 1.4tc.
    So f4 @ 1/2000 @ 420mm.
    2/3, +0.7 , on the exposure @ iso6400
I shoot manual, usually wide open, set my shutter speed and adjust iso + or -.

A very nice flight shot of the Osprey with soft muted light and colours. Nice wing position.
