Ring-billed Gulls are great subjects at any time, but even more so during the spring breeding season when they get rather animated and quite boisterous. This Ring-billed Gull announced its' arrival to the roosting community in a way only gulls can!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/5.6, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, about 90% FF, slightly lifted some of the shadows on the face and body to our right (dodge tool). A couple of darker spots removed in the BG (clone tool).

Spectacular! Love the two-eyed-perfection. The BKGR is great and I even love the strip of water? Was this recent?

    Thanks guys!

Artie, yes that is a strip of water at the bottom. The image was taken a couple of weeks ago, one day before this park closest to my home was closed to the public (as are all of them now).

Always good to get an everyday subject that merits more than a passing glance of the screen. This one has had a few glances!. Lovely colours and of course the yelling pose adds a lot to the shot

A fine flight shot Dan, love the wing span, the open bill and the in coming pose. Great timing.

Fantastic image! Great to see gulls getting some lens time. Echo all the positives. I always say anyone can make exciting images of fancy birds but it takes real skill to make great images of common birds. So kudos on that.
