Shot August 10, 2018 on Heceta Beach central Oregon Coast. Was watching this guy and trying to get a decent shot when he stepped up onto this little piece of driftwood. He gave me a couple quick shots before traveling on.

Love the perch, so good of this beauty to pose for you. Only wish the dark line in the middle was less prominent. TFS

Very nice indeed, I appreciate the eye would have been very dark but I would have been tempted to do a little subtle eye doctor work.

Quite a sweet capture Jerry and I love the natural perch, nice low POV. Agree with Jon on the eye and I might have blended the white in the BKG. One thing that puzzles me, why is the drift wood not sharp, as the subject is and it's on the same plane of focus?

Nice perch. Looks like a juvie molting to first winter. A lot lower or a lot higher would have put the dark line in a better place. I would definitely lose the shell.

Nice you caught the bird on that little piece of wood. Framing is right on. Nice low angle.

Great you got him up on that perch, makes the shot so much more interesting. A little eye work, lightening the iris might help
