Another from the "almost deleted folder" files. I remember being quite happy with this eye-level image with surrounding matching colours. I miss these grosbeaks, which only come around here once in a while...

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, usual eye-work to liven it up. Moving right to clear the tail meant having the same done to the head instead, so no-go.

Man even better than the last one. Love the framing and those colors. Glad you didn't delete that folder.

Pretty rockstar. I love the colors. Bird looks amazing vignetted by the OOF berries. Bird itself looks great too. No nits from me. Very glad you didn't delete these! TFS

    Daniel:

Very well seen and executed. Too bad about the tail, but, because of the other OOF areas and the impact of the head and upper body, it works very well.

    Congrats

Best thing about this is the OOF leaves/berries that you shot through and how you processed them.
Bird looks very nice, great work.

I can't believe you chose to ignore a frame like this before. The OOF berries really makes the frame.
Pose and the bird itself looks great and comp is spot on.
No nits from me, I'm fine with the tail beeing obstructed by the berries.

Very nice image. Too bad about the tail. Drops it down a notch for me.

You're killing me, man. Just another and perhaps the best excellent example of getting to the exact right spot at the right time. Not to mention all the perfect techs... TFS

Nice setting with all the orange. Could be a Dutch national bird because of that, but they are very rare overhere. I don't mind the tail, it's framing the bird even more.
