David composition looks good. I think the bird could use some sharpening overall and extra on the head.See some noise, wish the eye were opened a little more. I have the same problem with my waders. Nice water and background. TFS

Hi David, wonderful soft light, nice pose of the bird and lovely low POV. Not sure why you would use a vertical orientation to capture images of this bird. Below is a link to one of Artie's blog posts that I keep going back to for reference. Thank you for sharing.

Great POV and light.
This needs a half of a degree of CW rotation.
You have the same amount of pixels on a bird whether in portrait or landscape. Just looks like less! Not sure why you were in vertical. Can you explain?
Yes, to a bit more sharpening and contrast,
Gail

First and foremost, everyone thank you kindly for your valued inputs. I was laying in the beach sand mud between three morning tidal pools at just about peek low tide. Not actually in the pools. I was in this position for about an hour from right before sunrise as small waders came and went in the different pools. This is why I wish I had some kind of ground pod and a dry rag as I habitually only use the EVF especially with muddy hands and body. So,as neck and shoulders getting achy, this beauty flew in close to the edge (you can just see the edge coming into view at the bottom of image) of the pool to my right. So with less movement and pain, I simply rolled to my left side, facing this beauty and brought the camera to my face resulting in vertical composition. I frequently try both orientations when situation is ambiguous and the resulting frames always look closer/more magnified in horizontal orientation so I had the impression it would give more pixels. Thanks to you Joe for the tutorial from Artie. It was a great refresher,

Nice light and nice pose. The low angle is killer.
