He reminds me of one of our old domestic breed of pigs with his nose slightly upturned. As you mention the nose isn't quite in focus but it is still a very appealing image.
Hi Andreas -- This is a fantastic image, awesome output from the 1D Mk 4. Nose isn't bothering but more dof would have been nice. The fine details make this life like portrait and the tight frame is right in to the face of the viewer. Would have liked a bit more space at the base. Call it nit-picking but I find that piece of snow besides its face in the bkg a bit distracting.
Personally as the face is almost 'in your face' I would like to have had a bit more DoF for the nose. 6400 would probably have been your ceiling on ISO. With hindsight backing off and having some more FG would not have hurt the image and perhaps also gained a bit more detail in the flipper?
