    Default Shot-billed Dowitcher

Not calling or singing; but the open beak shows off his tactile mandible that allows him to probe the depths of the mudflats in search of little crustaceans. From Bunche Beach about this time last year. I think he must be partially molted into breeding plumage.

    D500, Sigma 150-600C @ 550mm, ISO 800, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual.

Maybe a mod can fix the typo in the title.

I'll like this one. Beautiful light and love the waterdrip between the bill.

Sweet light, nice intimate low angle, beautiful details and the open bill and blown feathers up top add interest. TFS

Nice natural shot, perfect timing with the bill just touching the water, light is sublime, love the low POV

    This is really nice Bill.
    Great POV and light.
IQ looks good and that slight head tilt adds a lot,

Looks nice all around. Light, low angle and the pose. The tension on the water on the bill is nice.

My kinda low angle shorebird frame! The bent beak is really cool, and the sharpness/detail is excellent across the bird, especially on the legs. He's just starting to molt in his breeding rufous!
