Default Coming soon to our Northern lakes

This fine fellow was captured several years ago. I am getting excited for loon season to arrive, as floating around in the middle of a lake with them is certainly a fun way to practice social distancing. There have been reports of loons passing through my area heading north, even though the inland lakes are still frozen in many parts of northern Michigan. They will wait out on Lake Michigan for their natal lake to thaw, and then take up housekeeping again.

Nikon D500 600 VR. 1/2000s. f/4.5 ISO 500. Taken from the bottom of my little boat ( mounted on a pedestal )

Post: Slight crop to level, cleaned up a few specs on the birds head. LR Classic and PS2020.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Perfect detail and balance in both light and shadows. The eye is superb. TFS

My advice Randy is keep posting loons! These images are really impressive, I really like the way you managed to get such a low angle, I would say exposure is spot on, there may be a blue cast on the bird's left wing? I could also see a version with a slightly warmer colour temperature.

Beautiful view! I love how we can see the bowed back from this frontal view. Exposure and details both look great. A really solid image.

So are we Randy, you keep wetting our appetite with these!

Overall, a very pleasing image, but it's the low POV you achieve that makes these images. Just make sure you don't runout of DoF as it moves towards you.

The best of luck in the coming weeks, fingers cross for you Randy.

    This is really nice Randy.
Love the killer POV and the details on the head.
Beautiful light and calm water make for a special image,

Thanks everyone for the comments. Always appreciated. I do have an order in for a small submarine, but I suspect it will be delayed!
