Hi folks ... times are not fun at all !!!
So trying to overcome things with all sorts of stuff .
Here you go ... image taken on Kamtchatka at the famous Kambalnaya River .

    Hope you like it .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    Ef 200 - 400 IS L at 293 mm
    HH

F 6,3 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/3200 sec ; man exp and auto iso ; with hindsight I might have gotten away with a slightly slower SS .

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2020 ; slightly cropped ; removed some very distracting water droplets from bears face .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting .

    Cheers Andreas

HI Andreas, a spectacular image with great action, splashing water and that focus on the bears face. He seems intent on getting somewhere in a hurry. Good techs (agree on a lower SS but it has not affected the output at all) Nice one.

Hi Andreas -- This is indeed a very nice frame. Liked the details in the fur inspite of being drenched, could so easily be a victim of oversharpening but you have great control in dealing with those stuff. Liked the details here and the moment is well timed. Not on the proper monitor to comment on colours , but surely they must be fine.

Nice one, and keep them coming.

    TFS !

With Hindsight, pulling back to 200mm and let the bear run into frame, then crop, I feel would have offered a better opportunity in framing, as you generally have a good idea when these guys are going to run. Can't see any reason why you would go for a slower SS, to me you want to freeze the action and have the image sharp, why go for less, bizarre????? Looks like the FP is behind the head as that is sharp, nose is slightly out, but hey you got the fame. The displaced water adds to the charge and power these animals have.

Thanks folks for your kind comments , much appreciated .

Steve .... could have gone wider , did not , but I am happy with the framing as is . Regarding SS , not bizarre IMHO , as I meant I could have gotten away with 1/2500 sec and get a slightly lower ISO . Specially in the foggy conditions ... as noise is way more apparent under them . FP was on the ear .... and I used single with extension , so might have trailed off a tad to the back . I might have overcome the fact by adding a slight amount of USM to the snout .

    Cheers Andreas

You were close to this big guy. Love all that splashing water. Nice and sharp with good detail. Nice that near eye is clear on any water. I don't mind the framing as is.
