Jon, I get the impression this was backlit, ie BKG lighter, subject more in shadow? Have you upped the Green on the LHS, looks a bit heavy compared to the RHS?

I quite like the framing and pose, the trailing water is the icing. Techs, perhaps a little tight, but then you were getting to grips with the kit. At ISO400 Im surprised on the IQ, BKG looks a bit coarse, did you lift the image? Looks/appears a bit green overall, WDYT?

It looked very flat, I tried to liven it up a bit, on reflection too much green.

HI Jon, I like the subject and the water trailing from the mouth. I agree It looks a bit too green and the subject a bit dull.

Cool looking deer. Like the velvet on those antlers. The water trailing is a nice touch. It does look underexposed. I enjoyed viewing.

Hi Jon ... great looking scene with the sambar in the water , and the trailing water is really cool !!!
Colors looking good to me , maybe slightly going a bit warmer in the sambarīs fur . No green cast ....in the image . I do really like the different hues of green .
Well fine detail somehow missing in the fur , might be down to the SS . Agree with Steve about the coarse appearance in the FG and BG .

    Nice one !! TFS Andreas

No green cast ....in the image .
If you take the WB to -2 & Tint 23 you will have a better balanced neutral, albeit 511.21 Andreas.

Jon, a quick dash back home so took the opportunity...

    Just balance the OP
    Midtone Curves
    Midtone Vib Curve
    3/4 Tone Levels
    Slightly darkened FG
Removed the grass on the coat

The Coat when you try to adjust it, carries Blue & a hint of Purple.

How far you go is personal choice I think Jon, but there is more tonal depth & range, plus that wave of light green isn't musddying the image, but I still feel you lightened it???

    Cheers
    Steve
PS M1 was a great drive, must of been similar to when you drove on it when it was first opened...

Hey Steve .... not working for me at all , your RP on all counts !!!!! Too dense in the subject , you lost form that as there in the OP . Colors too saturated in parts ( not fitting the scene IMHO ) .... on the other hand you have a well defined separation of colors ( looking good ) . Well just my thoughts ... nothing more or less

Having the raw would be better rather than working on the OP, but all I'm saying is there is a lot more that can be done, have a go Andreas, be good to have a comparison based on the OP.

Hi Jon -- I quite like the scene and the trailing water is the icing. Nice settings and the look into camera also adds to image.

IQ wise, the image suffers as details are quite coarse especially the BKG and the FG . Also the colours are off for my taste especially to much green .

I did try my hand for a RP.

    WDYT ?
