Nice environmental image, like the two different expressions, alert and grumpy! I am curious about the red and turquoise coloration on the head of the left bird.
Cheers

Nice to see the habitat that these guys live in. The light sure was sweet. The bird on the right looks pissed.

I am the last guy to ask about colors being partially color blind, but I did go back after Randy's comment and the raw was the same. The light was just at sunset and intense and the sky colorful. Auto white balance was on and there was still plenty of light, so your guess is as good as mine. Thanks as always for the valued comments and critiques.

Those red and turquoise streaks almost look like card corruption, but it's not usually contoured around a subject that way. Very odd and intriguing. Are the other images form that series having the same issue?
P.S. I love the country-side habitat and light.

When I first saw the red, I thought it might be fresh blood (although awful light colored for blood) but couldn't explain the turquoise. Perhaps he was eating some junk food?

Randy and Daniel, I had to zoom in 250% to see the problem completely. Looked at raw , tif and jpg once again. It is corrupted PS or Neat Image software. In the area you are talking about when sharpening the JPG it intensified nearby colors and pixelated only that area at the edge of the owl in questions head. I have been having crashes when sharpening so I believe the culprit is my embedded NI. It doesn't happen all the time. Thanks for those eagle eyes. I couldn't even discern it at 100%. I'm gonna reinstall PS and NI tomorrow. Thanks as always for critiques comments and just plain great eyes.
