Default Gray Ghost at morning light.

Continuing the Harrier light theme, I took this photo this morning at 9:30 in sunlight.
A half hour later is too harsh these days in my latitude.
    Hoping for morning clouds...

The shadow on the head is bad luck but otherwise a terrific shot.
Even though the bird is slightly past you there is a real 3D effect here.
    Love that fanned tail.
Maybe remove that small floating bit of feather above the tail?

Great shot Dan, the shadow doesn't bother me, I am not really sure why we tend to get so concerned about them, I mean they are there aren't they and they are a natural feature so why do we tend to get hung up? It's not as if the shadow completely obliterates anything. Hey who said shadows are not allowed in the first place?
Possibly the brightest white feathers are a little hot??, Maybe tone down a tad.

Amazing series of harriers you are posting Dan. I would some with a little bit of environment or a catch :-).

How fortunate to nicely photograph the male of the species! Nice view of that white rump field mark. I feel what Jon says about that shadow, but given a choice I'd go without one in a heartbeat.

Really like the image. Spot on exposure and a great background. The only nit to pick would be angling away of the bird.

Nice view of that eye and those feet. The background makes the bird pop nicely.
