Bufflehead
Not sure how to classify this one - there is a lake which started out with captive birds but they are now breeding themselves. There is no containment so they can come and go as they please.
Either way, the Buffleheads normally stay out of range, but as I was lying down at the edge of the water a passer by threw some grain in and this one came close enough for a nearly full framed shot. No more space behind unfortunately, and a little higher than I wanted to be - typically I'd just moved from my favourite spot where you can get down the the water line!

Sweet colors on this beautiful little bird. Well exposed whites and blacks - not easy to do with these guys.

Hey Mike - That's cute! I really like the iridescence, exposure spot on. The fast shutter speed really captured super detail.
It wasn't Rudyard lake by any chance??

Love that color on the head. You caught that at the exact right moment. Yes it's tight. But i would take this one anyday.

Excellent! Iridescence is shown perfectly.
Exposure spot on and good POV.
I would like a little bit more room on RHS if you have it!

Very nice exposure and detail. Love the hint of the feet and that great bow wave. I love love love how colorful these birds are and so wish for a good shot to photograph them, so very jealous. I would add a bit more room all around if you have it. TFS

Getting the iridescence and the exposure on the whites right is a bit tricky with these guys so well done on that front!! IQ and bow wake look great too. Well done Mike
