    Patrick:

Great eye contact on this male, well exposed.

Generally a low shooting angle is desirable, but the challenge here is the vegetation, particularly where it overlaps the face.

It would have been nice if he perched up on the log, to get him clear of some of the grasses.

Do you have any others from this series?

    Cheers

For some reason I am really digging this one a lot! I love the grasses, especially at right. A couple of paler grass seed head that could be toned down in upper left, and a dust spot to eliminate in that area as well. It's a whimsical and fun image that put a smile on my face. If it did hop onto that log, I'm sure you'd have some other good ones too.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't even see that dust spot until you mentioned it. I do have other images from this series, unfortunately they are all shot through the grass. When I took this shot I was really trying to capture the environment from the birds perspective.

I like the concept behind this one. But not enough bird in the frame for me. If the birds head was clear of the grass this would be great.

I really like this...Its so different, its like a breath of fresh air. It would look great printed large. I have a couple of similar images, with only the head and eye showing of a Red Grouse in amongst the heather. I think I'll have a look at processing them now. Thanks for sharing.
