    Default Redwing

    Hi

We are decended upon in the autumn and winter by to migrant winter thrushes, the Redwing and the Fieldfare. Both are generally difficult to photograph as they are very shy and easily take flight. There is a bit of story to this photo, as unbeknown to me, my secretary entered it in to an Autumn Photograph competition being run by the National Trust and a local newspaper. The first I knew about it was when it appeared in the paper as the winner following voting on a website and selection by the papers picture editor!!!

    Taken with 1Dmk3 at ISO800 F5.6 and 1/125s.

    Cheers

Wow, perfect timing with that berry half swallowed!! Only thing I'd change would be to trim a bit off the bottom...but then again you did win a contest with it as is!! Congratulations.

Rich a lovely image here. The berry in the mouth is great and the catchlight in the eye is wonderful. Congratulations on your win.

Great timing and setting, Rich. I might crop a bit off top and bottom.

    Nice one Rich

I too have lots of these around at the moment, in fact there were lots of them today, but they usually only stay on the ground which doesn't make for nice photographs

    Jacqui

PS congratulations on your win :-)
