This is the same individual as my last post, but the day after. It was a friendly owl, and allowed quite a close approach as evidenced by this full-frame vertical portrait. I watched it try three times to catch a Red Squirrel, unsuccessfully. I had way too much lens for that action though, and not that much light either!

What a beauty, captured perfectly, Daniel. Nicely perched on a snow covered branch just far enough away from the trunk of the tree. Sharp as a tack, and wonderful eye contact.

Wonderful detail in this full-frame shot. I love the great stare, complete with reflections in the eyes. The tree makes a nice BG (although I might have preferred it if you could have taken a step to the right and gotten just tree without the sliver of green on the right; others I'm sure will like the green).

    Daniel:

Very neat, love the fine detail, luminescent eyes, shooting angle.

Great job handholding that rig at that SS.

    Cheers

Great portrait. The owl looks nice and fluffed up here. Hope you have some more fun sessions with this owl.
