The male had flown to the nest twice during my visit and was now perched atop a tree to the right of the frame. As he jostled in the tree top this beauty stiffened her stance in anticipation of one more visit. There are two small chicks in the nest. Not yet tall enough to be seen in an image. You can see their head feathers just poking out in front of this beauty. The sun had just set on an unusually clear horizon.

As always, your valued comments are very welcome.

This is a tough one: On one hand I wish the bird was higher in the frame, but on the other I love the cloud up there so pointing your lens down would have spoiled that. An original vertical surely could have done the trick. Nice light and good sharpness.

The light sure was nice. Agree with Daniel about going vertical here. Love all that sky though.

Funny you should say that. I have about 20 frames of this nest with 2/3 of them being vertical. The GBH at Wako are about 3 months in from the beginning of their nesting cycle. However the much larger nesting group of Wood Storks has begun (at beginning of Feb.). Long story short, this is the only frame without distracting OOF wood storks. I take that back, I did point lower in this frame and and there was also a FG OOF wood stork below that was banished by small crop off bottom. They were flying in and out of the FG and BG as they jostled for possible nesting sites. I do love that sky, though. Thanks as always for your very valued inputs.
