    Default Black-crowned Night-Heron

Yesterday was my first day of shooting since I returned from Thailand on Jan 5. It felt good to get back at it!

This was captured from my inflatable kayak in Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay, CA. The background is an
earthen cliff far behind the bird (it was perched on a rock in the harbor).

I like the eye and lores set off by the golden/brown plumage and background. The headshot collection grows!

1/5000 at f/5.6, ISO 800 (was set-up to shoot flying Bufflehead when I quick-clicked this, results from effort tomorrow)
Processed in LR CC without trickery

Nice view of this night heron. Love that color in the background. Nice framing. Detail looks nice as well.

Hi Dorian, excellent IQ, and the light is exquisite. You have nailed the HA, sharpness is spot on, and your earthy BG colour looks natural and compliments the Heron. Well captured.

Killer details, my only nit on this kind of shot is you needed eye contact....

I love the color palette in this image.
    IQ is excellent.
I could see a version with a bit more room on LHS.
    I like this a lot!

Killer portrait, with beautiful warm tones throughout. Excellent feather details, not overdone.
