In my part of the country, Buffleheads are notoriously skittish, and I've never been able to get close to them. They fly like bullets, so I'm in awe of those of you who have captured them in flight. So I post this knowing that the bird was getting past me, and that the image suffers from mid-day sun and large crop. But I'll keep trying, and keep this until I get a better one.

Hi Bill, love the action here and congrats on getting your nemises bird. At a ss of 1/4000, I somehow feel your focus is off here, the head looks motion blurred.
I was shooting these yesterday so I know how hard they are to capture; there's never enough reach or shutter speed! Self-critique is spot on. I like seeing the red feet even if they are soft. The splash is a nice touch as well.
