I managed this shot as the Black Headed Gull(winter plumage) flew onto the ice covered loch. I liked the pose, on this one, with the toes digging into the ice in an effort to stop.

The ice makes this one. Nice pose as well. Yes neat how the toes and trying to dig into the ice.

Hi Will, very well timed for the touch down. Overall, well exposed on the whites, and I like the underwing feather detail. Did the Gull not slip backwards from the slippery ice ?

Highly-detailed and well-exposed view of this guy! The ice is a nice touch. I think the rear/left wing is far enough back to work even though it intersects the face. I do wish for a bit more head turn, but only a little.
