    Default Hooded youngster

I got one pass at this 4 to 5 month old Hooded Plover without its black hood for quite a few months yet ,as they attain there adult plumage at about a year old. I looked at a vertical but I like the foot high wave in the background as it puts this tiny bird into perspective.
Taken just before 7.pm on an offshore Island in South Australia. The minding parent was in the original and also pretty sharp but somehow I liked this better. A rarish bird and threatened in Eastern parts of Aus. Found on remote beaches of which there are plenty around here. Beaches not plovers!

Fire-fighters have done a wonderful job in very difficult conditions in our country that does this often enough and recovers again . Americans and Canadians firefighters have been here helping.Wonderful mutual help.

    Hey Ian,

Despite the fact that the bird is angling slightly away from you I love this one. The flight pose is beyond spectacular, the image is sharp, and I love the crop and the setting.

    with love, artie

Hi Ian, great show of the wing span, and the Plover pops nicely against the darker sea.

Really like this one. Nice framing of the bird. The dark blue background gives some nice separation here.

I love the "flapping" feet! Nice light, and I like the dark and rich blues. Good call keeping the comp as is to include the wave in top left corner.

This is special, Ian! I'm a sucker for wider compositions. The wave adds a lot of interest. Great colors. I agree with Arash on the whites looking slightly grey - easy fix. Well done on capturing this speedster!
