I hope you aren't bored of my raptor shots. Some of the harriers that fledged last year are now in transition and some older ones are full adults. The adult harriers are the most skittish and wary of people. The male adults are almost impossible to approach (hence the nick name grey ghost). This image is from an almost full grown adult female as evident by the bright yellow eye and sure enough a skittish bird. In the past I used to shoot these with the my Canon 600 + 2X TC on the 1DX/2. THe combination of D500/D850 + 600 + 1.4X gives me the same same reach without the need to shoot at f/8 which is a pain for AF in the winter last-light condition I like to shoot. the spot light effect was created by the sun peaking from beneath the clouds as it was touching the ocean. The light lasted for about a minute then it was night....

I hope you like this frame

    Shot with my D500 and 600 E FL + TC14-E III. Hand held. ISO 2000 1/3200sec at f/5.6. processed with C1P

Looks great, as usual! Colors are money. I need to try for these birds. I'll be down in SoCal the week after next, so maybe I'll get lucky. Are most of you shots from down there or up here?

These are from up here Dorian. I believe this location is one of the best for photographing harries.

Light is spectacular...the red glow is very nice.
I have no where to get a good look at these locally, I may
have to come to the Bay area...

Hi Ari, lovely light against a lovely flight pose. Tack sharp, and I like the overall detail.
