    Default Great Cormorants

Great Cormorants have always been a nemesis species for me, but I finally got a decent shot at photographing them a couple of days ago. Recently, I've been working on incorporating more elements in my images, for eg. multiple birds, more habitat, etc. Composing this shot was a massive challenge - this shot represents 90% of the full-frame image - and lighting was poor. In hindsight, more DOF on the wings would've helped.

    Camera - Nikon D850
    Focal Length - 700mm
    Aperture - f/8
    Shutter Speed - 1/100s
    ISO - 2200
    Handheld
    Manual, Auto ISO
    ~90% of Full-frame

nice head shot, I wish you had taken the TC off to get more of the cormi in focus, I find the OOF bird distracting and would get rid of it

The second bird makes this one for me. Nice pose and really digging that green background here.

    Aditya:

Like the detail on head/eye, yes a more DOF would be nice on the wing. I like the second bird, but might reduce the contrast and saturation just a bit, so that it compliments the front subject, but doesn't distract. Very much a matter of taste.

I like the oof bird because I think it helps tell the story.
I think you were too close though...

I too like the juxtaposition. And the image too. You might try taking some of the green out of the BLACKs on the head. Tip: use Selective Color ...

Love the detail you captured Aditya....Lovely pose and I love the eye. From a personal point of view, I would also remove the second bird and add some more to the LHS and less on the RHS.
